Laurence Sanford

Laurence Sanford served as communications officer aboard the destroyer USS Shelton (DD-790) in the US Navy Pacific fleet from 1963 to 1966. Homeports were Yokosuka, Japan and San Diego, California. He later served as an officer in the clandestine service of the Central Intelligence Agency for over 4 years, including a two-year assignment in Hong Kong. He has visited 50 countries, 49 states and has lived outside the U.S. for 5 years.

A graduate of Boston College with a B.S. in Finance and Babson College with an MBA, he was an executive in major international companies and an entrepreneur. He founded and was CEO of a multi-million dollar distribution business for 20 years.

Laurence lived in Tewksbury, in the Merrimack Valley of Massachusetts, for over 40 years. He was active in local community activities such as the VFW; Tewksbury town finance, library and school committees; and local hiking groups. An avid golfer, he enjoyed a single-digit handicap for over 50 years.

He now lives in Palm Bay, Florida and serves as treasurer of the Friends of the Palm Bay libraries. Other organizations in which he participates include Military Officers Association of America, American Legion, Association of Former Intelligence Officers and American Security Council Foundation.

He and his wife Marilyn have been married for over 50 years. They have one beautiful, successful daughter, a son-in-law, and two grandchildren living in nearby Indian Harbour, Florida.

He believes in America and serves as a dutiful citizen by keeping informed on current events.
