A Tribute to ASCF Chairman Emeritus RADM. Robert H. Spiro

As we pause to remember the 65th anniversary of the Battle of Okinawa, the American Security Council Foundation pays tribute to our former board member and chairman, RADM. Robert H Spiro, Jr.

April 6, 2010 marks the 65th anniversary of a Japanese Kamikaze attack on the USS Morris, the destroyer on which the then young naval officer Spiro was serving.

Even with the deaths of 24 sailors, 44 wounded, and severe damage to the ship, the brave men of the USS Morris were able to save their ship.

As we commemorate this solemn anniversary, we pay special tribute to our colleague, dear friend and Chairman Emeritus of the ASCF, Adm. Robert H. Spiro, Jr. and all the veterans of the greatest generation for their dedicated and faithful service.

Let's never forget that our freedom isn't free and to always thank our brave Veterans.

Donald. B. Smith

Brigadier General, USA (Ret.)

ASCF Chairman
