Alford L. McMichael

Alford “Al” McMichael retired from active duty in 2006 after serving more than 36 years of service with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was appointed as the 14th Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps in 1999, as the senior-ranking enlisted member and principal advisor to the Commandant of the Marine Corps. He routinely testified before congressional committees on the training, quality of life, military compensation and the health and well-being representing over 200,000 active duty and reserve Marine Corps personnel and their families service wide. In addition, after completing this assignment in 2003, he became the first senior enlisted advisor to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), where he was the principal enlisted advisor to the Supreme Allied Commander, Europe (SACEUR) responsible for approximately 2.3 million military personnel representing 28 countries, including the U.S.

A native of Hope, Arkansas, Al’s illustrious military career included American Embassy in Copenhagen, Denmark, and numerous senior noncommissioned officer leadership assignments included director of Staff NCO Academy, NROTC Instructor at University of Minnesota, Sergeant Major of Officer Candidates School and Sergeant Major for Manpower and Reserve Affairs Division, Headquarters Marine Corps. His numerous awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, and Meritorious Service Medal with gold star.

Al is the founder and President of the 4 -DREW Foundation, a foundation that supports children at risk, and providing leadership and mentor counseling for high schools for children to have a better understanding for the need to pursue excellence in all endeavors in life. He also provides leadership training and workshops for life-changing success for team building. In 2011 he became the CEO and President for McMichael Services Group, LLC Providing critical client support solutions in the areas of physical and cyber security, administrative support and janitorial services which afford our clients the assurance and confidence to perform daily operations.

He also serves on numerous advisory and principal boards including the Education Foundation for the American Financial Services Association, as a member of the board of directors for the National Uniformed Services Association.

In 2008 McMichael became a publish author with his book Leadership Achieving Life-changing success from within.
